YOU TOO CAN BE A STAR! That was the idea of the story behind the drama musical 'Dance Star'.
ReelDigital was hired to film and edit this corporate based production as a promotional tool for Kreate Dance Centre.
Written by Steven Smith and commissioned by Kreate Dance Centre, 'Dance Star' is a film for young people who love to dance.
Dance choreographer Keeley Scott created some great performances and assembled a gifted group of dancers and actors including Megan Little and Bruce Payne (Passenger 57, Dungeons & Dragons), some of whom are just starting out and have a great future ahead of them.
Dance Star is a story of a young girl named Josie, who dreams of being a dancer. Like many young hopefuls, Josie is going through the same ups and downs as many experience in real life as she strives to be noticed in a hard and demanding competitive profession dance.
Josie has to not only deal with students at school who intimidate and bully her, but she also has to deal with the break-up of her parents who are constantly fighting over how Josie should spend her future.
Filmed in various locations in Essex, Dance Star was a mamouth task to film, including one scene with over 100 young dancers performing in a single five minute routing moving from an audition room, through the corridors of Kreate Dance Centre to the street.
The final scene of the film was shot at Basildon's Towngate Theatre with four Sony EX3 HD cameras as dancers took to the stage in a final dance extravaganza.
Editing, colour grading and audio work was completed using Apple's Final Cut Studio and Adobe Photoshop imaging software.
